Baby teeth aren’t just practice teeth. They help children bite and chew, support speech development, guide adult teeth into place and boost confidence when smiling. When teeth aren't cared for, it leads to tooth decay which can cause pain, infection and long-term oral health problems.
Czy wiesz, że?
- Usuwanie dotkniętych próchnicą zębów to najczęstszy zabieg wykonywany u dzieci w wieku od 5 do 9 lat.
- More than 1 in 5 children aged 5 have tooth decay - której można niemal całkowicie zapobiec!
- Zęby należy szczotkować dziecku aż do wieku 3 lat.
Pasta z fluorem
- Under 3 years: niewielka porcja (ilość odpowiadająca wielkości ziarnku ryżu) pasty o stężeniu fluoru co najmniej 1000 ppm (części na milion)
- 3+ years: ilość pasty odpowiadająca wielkości ziarnku grochu; zawartość fluoru w paście: 1350-1500 ppm.
Inne sposoby dbania o higienę jamy ustnej
Samo szczotkowanie nie wystarczy. Aby dziecko miało zdrowe zęby i dziąsła, należy dbać także o inne sprawy.
Dieta
Butelki, kubki zwykłe i treningowe
Wizyty u dentysty
- Pierwszą wizytę u stomatologa należy umówić po pojawieniu się pierwszych zębów i przed pierwszymi urodzinami.
- Pamiętać o regularnych kontrolach – dentyści potrafią dostrzec problemy wcześniej, co pomaga zapobiec próchnicy.
- Stomatologów można poprosić o pomoc w dbaniu o higienę jamy ustnej dziecka.
Wspieranie dzieci ze specjalnymi potrzebami edukacyjnymi i niepełnosprawnościami (SEND)
Children with SEND, especially those with sensory needs, motor skill or communications challenges may find brushing harder. It’s important to establish a good toothbrushing routine as early as possible as it can be harder to introduce to older children. There is lots of expert advice and guidance available.
Top tips for SEND
